Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
Our School Values are set out in our Mission Statement,
Social, Moral, Cultural and Spiritual Development are the guiding principles in the organisation and running of our school.
By Social, we mean the values we seek to instil into the children during the time they are in our school, by promoting personal and community values. It is in this context that policies and procedures for behaviour and discipline; rewards and sanctions; learning and achievement; the valuing of both school and personal property and participation in physical education and sports are set out. The support of Parents, Governors, the Church and other members of the community help to uphold the social values of our school.
In seeking to instil values which are continued in the wider world our school endeavours to embed the Christian Values of: Courage; Truth; Humility; Peace; Compassion; Generosity; Forgiveness; Thankfulness; Wisdom; Friendship; Service; Perseverance; Trust and Responsibility. Pastoral care of the whole school community is exercised by the Staff, Governors, the Church and other agencies.
Children learn about the wider community in which our school is set through their own personal experience. They extend this knowledge through the curriculum. Wherever possible this process is enriched through visits by pupils as well as visits to the school by members of the wider community.
We seek to foster a culture of wonder, curiosity, discovery and learning, which leads to the spiritual development for all. It is our aim for each child to be able to see the Christian Values in action and to use these as a foundation to develop their own principles and beliefs.
We aim to achieve this by ensuring Religious Education and Collective Worship are focussed on a Christian Value each short term. Each Value will help to set the context of learning and personal development in a Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School. As is appropriate the majority of Religious Education and Worship is based upon the Christian understanding of religious faith.
Our School Vision is set out in our School Aims:
Learn, Achieve, Grow: Together
To be the best I can be;
To love to learn and learn to love;
To know I am important to this school and this school is important to me;
To show our Christian Values in action.
